How much a court spends per case does not always determine how fast that case is processed. Neither does the amount of cases a court process necessarily determine how fast these cases are processed, or how much is spent on them. Explore this visualization to see the case processing speeds for California superior courts.
Instructions: The map shows total court spending and spending per legal filing. The graph on the top-right shows the relationship between processing time and spending per filing for a particular type of legal filing. Use the drop down menus to switch between types of filings. Click on a court (either on the map or the top-right graph) to see a detailed breakdown of case processing time by type of filing. Hold down 'Shift' while clicking to select and compare multiple courts. Also, use the drop down menus to adjust for cost of living differences and to select a particular year for which to see data.
